How to Help your Pet Suffering from a Joint Condition?

Workshops for pet woenrs

The two main goals in managing pets with muscle and joint conditions are
1.Control their pain (as naturally as possible: Anti-inflammatories can have serious side-effects)
2.Strengthen their core and stabilising muscles to help support the joints.

I am offering workshops for Pet Owners teaching you the pet owner these skills.
Massage and Acupressure are natural ways to manage muscle and joint pain. Learn the different massage techniques, 4 different routines including a relaxation routine, maintenance and warm down and warm up routines. Massage helps to improve blood flow to the muscles and decrease muscle spasms and the pain associated with them. Acupressure, which is similar to acupuncture, causes endorphin release which are the bodies natural pain relievers.
Learn the correct way to do Acupressure and receive Dr Kelly’s Acupressure charts for specific conditions and areas of pain.

Pets with joint conditions whether it be hip dysplasia, post surgery after a cruciate rupture, spondylosis or even Osteoarthritis use their bodies incorrectly. We call this compensation. They compensate to protect a certain area and in doing so end up overusing some muscles and underusing other ones. This results in muscle wastage of the underused muscles and spasm of the overused muscles.
The underused muscles waste away and these muscles are usually the muscles that are important in stabilising the joints.

(Read my blog on 7 reasons you should strengthen your pet)

I will show you some basic therapeutic exercises that you can do everyday or every other day which target the muscles that support your pets joints. The more support your pets joints have the less pain they will be in. We will also look at a series of core exercises that are important to keep your pets spine in aligned. A strong core decreases your pets chance of injuries such as slips and falls.

These exercises can be done from as early as 12 weeks of age and are ideal for any breed dog as an overall muscle strengthening program.

I am passionate about empowering owners with the knowledge to help their pets. Join me for one of my workshops.
